Das Bari of Krishnagar is famous for its Jagadhatri Puja. It is known to all that Das Bari organise the puja with full of devotion. So, almost all the people who come out from their houses to witness the Jagadhatri Puja of Krishnagar rush to Das Bari to witness the beautiful idol. But it has a past history & we would like to inform it to all who are interested to know the history of the Jagadhatri Puja of Das Bari. We are trying to unveil the story.
It was 1969 when the members of Das Bari of Aminbazar, Krishnagar, Nadia, started to organize the Jagadhatri Puja in the yard of their house & it continued up to 1971. But after that the members of Das Bari stopped organizing their Puja since 1972. Then in the year 1983 the idol of Nuripara Barowari which is very close to Das Bari burnt when “Sandhi Puja” of “Maha Astami” was going on & after one week the grand son of Late Haripada Das dreamt of the burnt idol of Nuripara Barowari and fell ill. The grand mother of the boy, Late Basanti Devi, took her grand son to the nearby “Tantipara Thakur Bari” which is very famous at Krishnagar. The priest of Thakur Bari advised Basanti Devi to start organizing the Puja once again in their house. Basanti Devi took the advice & started to organize the Puja in their house. Soon the ailing grand son of Basanti Devi came round. From then on Das Bari has been organizing the Jagadhatri Puja in their house.
